Eastport Retreat
The White Sails Inn is booked for the Guild for the weekend of June 22-25th. To hold a room at the Inn, a $25.00 deposit is required. Please forward this amount to the Newfoundland Writers' Guild: P.O. box 1133, stn. C, St. John's, NL, A1C 5M5. The rate is $175 for 4 people at the main building (The Inn). The inn sleeps 8 people. Members who plan to stay in a Cabin, please phone 1-709-677-3400 to reserve a White Sails Cabin and submit a deposit.
Breakfast/Brunch
Breakfast/Brunch recognize the writing efforts of Ellen Reid will be held on February 12th at noon, before our regular workshop at 2:00pm. The Breakfast/Brunch will be held at the Wedgewood Cafe, Elizabeth Avenue. If you are planning to attend, please call Lily Bursey.
• Each year an Honours and Awards Brunch is held, usually on Sunday. Members who have received an award for their writing or have had a book published are presented with a certificate and a free brunch. Others attending pay their own way.
• In December a Christmas Party is held, consisting of a meal, often a potluck, and an exchange of recycled gifts. There may be a minimal cost, around $5.00, and usually members have prepared some form of entertainment.
• The Guild has an annual Rejection Slip Contest, designed to encourage members to submit their work for publication. The member who has received the most rejection slips during the past year is taken out for brunch in the spring. The time period for this contest is from AGM to AGM.
